What's the best way to travel from Inverness

Writer: Andrew MasonAndrew Mason

There is so many ways to travel from Inverness to any direction from the Highlands of Scotland

There is Inverness taxi services although a great service many of the drivers are foreign and new to the driving industry and have a lack of knowledge most journeys completed by Inverness taxis will be done from data heads and GPS maps and long distances will be extremely expensive and they have a fleet of aging vehicles.

The trains can be cancelled in bad weather in June and July our busiest months we can have extremely bad weather but this is a cost effective option for most travellers.

The buses are probably the cheapest option but may be limited to how much luggage you can carry on board

Truly the best option is to have a private car and driver or tour guide in most cases. You will be travelling in a luxurious vehicle such as a mercedes V Class or something similar. The vehicles are usually under 8 years of age and haven't done a million miles and the prices can be very competitive towards the Inverness taxis.

For insurance purposes a private car driver or tour guide can only take 1 job per day without having a taxi plate on the vehicle so they may not want to do short journeys or they may charge more for a short journey this is where you would benefit from using the Inverness taxis
